Melyn Reynolds
It is with deep regret that we announce the death of Melvyn Reynolds.
Melvyn had been involved with Holly Holy Day for many years, and indeed single handedly kept the event alive during the early part of this decade. During this time, he carried out practically all the various tasks needed to stage the event. He personally ensured the survival of this important Nantwich tradition up to the point where it could be stabilised and moved forward in the current format.
The Nantwich community owe a huge debt of gratitude to Melvyn for his dedication to Holly Holy Day (alongside his other community interests, such as St Mary's), and a recognition that the event may simply have disappeared without him.
Although Melvyn retired from active service with the running of Holly Holy Day in 2008, his last involvement was with scripting the successful programme for the 2010 event.
The Holly Holy Day Society expresses its sympathies to Melvyn's family and friends at their loss. As a permanent tribute to Melvyn, a trophy is to be commissioned bearing his name, and this will be presented at each future Holly Holy Day event.
